UWCA to become new Russian-based GE H Series Authorized Service Center

November 23, 2017
Ural Works of Civil Aviation (UWCA), of Ekaterinburg, Russia, signed an agreement with GE Aviation to become an H Series Authorized Service Center (ASC). UGZA will provide MRO services including line maintenance, training and on-wing heavy repairs on GE H Series turboprop engines from their home location.

November 22, 2017 - UWCA and GE Aviation Czech plan to build synergies across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) turboprop market. The two companies will partner in extending localized, on-site heavy repair capabilities including test cells to develop a first overhaul service center for GE tuboprop engines in the region.

The unique design of the GE turboprop H-Series engine targets the most severe environments and remote areas of Russia, e.g. Siberia, Far East Asia and the Kamchatka Peninsula. GE celebrated its 300th H-Series engine manufactured this year. The new generation H-Series and M601 engines have received recognition from customers worldwide, including Russia.

This strategic collaboration unifies two key business elements, putting customer know-how and the state-of-the art technology at the center of the business.

“With thousands of engines operating worldwide, we are enhancing customer support and customized in-region capabilities that streamline customers’ operation and keep them flying. Due to Russia’s vast amount of remote territory,  unique infrastructure and focus in developing domestic connectivity, the country represents a great opportunity for growing the business and general aviation market where GE-powered aircraft plays an important role,” said Michele D`Ercole, President & Managing Executive of GE Aviation's Business & General Aviation Turboprops.

GE Aviation H-Series engines simplify maintenance by eliminating the need for recurrent fuel nozzle maintenance and periodic hot section inspections. The GE H Series eases pilot workload and enhances value and operability with a standard auto start and limiting unit for ground operation, along with a linear throttle response. The H Series turboprop family incorporates GE's 3-D aerodynamic design and advanced materials to get a powerful, fuel-efficient, durable engine.

These technologies deliver more shaft horsepower, improve engine fuel efficiency and provide increased temperature margin, significantly enhancing hot-day takeoff performance and high-altitude cruise speeds. The H Series turboprop serves a multitude of uses: commuter, agricultural, business turboprops and utility aircraft.
