GE Highlights Solutions for Turning Waste to Energy at Two Industry Conferences

April 04, 2016

TREVOSE, PA.-April 4, 2016-GE (NYSE: GE) will showcase its waste-to-energy technologies, products and services designed to help industrial and municipal customers meet their toughest wastewater and waste challenges at the WEF Residuals and Biosolids Conference taking place April 3-6 in Milwaukee and at the Biocycle West Coast Conference taking place April 4-7 in San Diego.

GE will be exhibiting at booth #609 at the WEF Residuals and Biosolids Conference and at booth #30 at the Biocycle West Coast Conference.

Highlights of GE’s technology portfolio that will be on display at both conferences include:

Advanced Digestion (AD) Technology-Designed to recycle biosolids and biowaste into methane and valuable byproducts, GE’s Monsal* AD technologies use bacteria in the absence of oxygen to break down matter to create biogas. The biogas can be combusted or oxidized and used for heating or with a gas engine to produce electricity and heat. It also can be compressed and used as fuel for vehicles and the cake used as a fertilizer.

Digestion Products-From mixing systems to heat exchanges to sludge treatment, GE’s digestion products work in concert to provide a holistic solution that takes anaerobic treatment to a new level. GE’s digestion products achieve optimal energy balance to maximize system yield and performance such as GE’s sequential gas mixing (SGM) systems which can handle dry solids concentrations up to 10 percent.

Jenbacher* Gas Engines-Generate heat and power with GE’s Jenbacher gas engines operating on captured landfill and sewage gas, reducing conventional fuel use and environmental pollutants-all while yielding high levels of efficiency.

GE also will also present technical papers at each conference.

  • "Food Waste Pasteurization to Achieve Class A Digestate Product” will be presented by GE’s Nick Bonkoski, domain leader, anaerobic digestion systems-water and process technologies for GE Power, at the Biocycle West Cost technical program on Tuesday, April 5 at 11 a.m.
  • “Capacity Increase without Evasive Retrofits-Maximize Digester Efficiency with Biological Hydrolysis” will be presented by GE’s Michael Theodoulou, senior product manager-water and process technologies for GE Power, at the WEF Residuals and Biosolids technical program on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m.
