GE is the Employer Brand of the year in Hungary
April 2016 - GE’s Global Operations Center in Budapest was inaugurated by the Hungarian Prime Minister in February 2014. From less than 200 people on two floors in one building, and being primarily finance-focused, Global Operations now occupies three buildings in an environment-friendly contemporary campus in Budapest. Today the Center comprises a diverse multicultural team of 1,400 people speaking 37 languages from 50 different nationalities. 63% of the team are women and around 51% are millennials.
There are 40,000 people working in Shared Services in Hungary and today Global Operations is among the top three shared services centers in the traditional captive format with multifunctional capabilities. GE Global Operations was awarded the “Company of the Year” in 2014 for regional shared service centers in Hungary.
“GE has had a strong presence in Hungary over the last 25 years but establishing a world-class shared services center in Budapest required that we employ a large number of people quickly to build scale. It was significant to position ourselves as the employer of choice in the country where there is stiff competition in the shared services arena. We put in a lot of concerted effort in building the employee value proposition, promoting the “GE culture” and making GE an attractive company for people to build their careers with”, said Bjorn Bergabo, General Manager, Global Operations Europe, Russia and CIS.
The Hungarian PR Association introduced the Employer Brand Award in Hungary for the first time in 2015. The aim of this annual competition is to reward best practices in building an employer brand and introduce them to a professional audience. Companies could apply with details of their employer branding strategy introduced in the last 12-18 months and it was essential that the employer branding strategy was trackable and be proved by numbers. The award aims to recognize the collaboration between HR and communication teams with an emphasis on internal and external communication. It also targets to gather and publish the best practices so other companies can learn from them in order to create a better, healthier and happier working environment in Hungary.
