In November 2015, Premier Verification (Pty) Ltd was engaged by GE -Alstom S&E Africa (Pty) Ltd to conduct their B-BBEE Verification. This was duly performed according to the revised Codes of Good Practice in 2013. To comply with the requirements of a contract, GE- Alstom S&E Africa (Pty) Ltd requested that an additional indicative scorecard be presented to illustrate that the required B-BBEE Level would have been maintained if the 2007 Codes of Good Practice were applied.
We have recently been made aware by the B-BBEE Commission that an investigation found that the indicative scorecard issued by Premier Verification (Pty) Ltd did not conform to the requirements of a B-BBEE certificate.
GE regrets the confusion caused and welcomes its ongoing engagement with the B-BBEE Commission as the regulatory body and champion for economic transformation. We are proud of our transformation journey over the past year having improved our performance in respect of B-BBEE.
As an active corporate citizen, we remain resolute in our efforts for social change and continue to leverage our large infrastructure projects in creating jobs and the development of critical skills needed to drive continuous growth in the sector.
