GE today announces the appointment of four new company officers. GE currently has 191 GE officers globally, who lead large revenue generating businesses or are in critical functional roles, helping to drive growth.
Below is the list of GE's four new officers:
Elyse Allan, 53, is president & CEO of GE in Canada. She was appointed to this leadership position in October 2004 with a mission to grow GE's businesses in Canada and to advance the company's leadership in infrastructure, technology, media and financial services.
The appointment marked Allan's return to GE, where she began her career in 1984. Allan is a 15-year veteran of GE and has held several leadership roles in the U.S and Canada across GE's corporate, industrial and consumer businesses. Prior to her current position, she was a senior executive with Ontario Hydro and then led the Toronto Board of Trade as president and CEO.
An active business and community leader, Allan is first vice-chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the C.D. Howe Institute and the Public Policy Forum. She also serves on the Federal Finance Minister's Financing Advisory Committee, the Alberta Premier's Council for Economic Strategy and Ontario's Investment and Trade Advisory Committee. Her community work includes serving on the Board of the Royal Ontario Museum and the Tuck Business School Board of Overseers.
Elyse earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, an MBA from the Amos Tuck Business School at Dartmouth, and an honorary doctorate from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario.
Sid Ashworth, 58, has been named vice president, Washington D.C. Operations for GE Aviation, a business within GE Technology Infrastructure, reporting directly to President and CEO of GE Aviation David Joyce.
Ashworth has more than 25 years of experience in the legislative and executive government branches. She spent 14 years as a Professional Staff member with the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations and served as the Majority and Minority Staff director of the Defense Subcommittee, and Majority and Minority Staff director of the Military Construction Subcommittee. During Ashworth's tenure with the Defense Subcommittee, she was responsible for formulating
funding and legislation recommendations for defense and intelligence spending in excess of $600
billion annually.
She also worked as a civilian in the Department of the Army for nine years and was focused on resource management and force structure and strategy. Most recently, she was principal of The Ashworth Group, a consulting firm providing advisory and business development services in the defense, aerospace and intelligence industries.
Ashworth received a master's degree in Business Administration from Campbell University in North Carolina and a bachelor's degree in Management from the University of Maryland.
Additionally, she was a senior executive fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and serves as a senior advisor with the Center of Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Lee Cooper, 47, is vice president and chief marketing and commercial officer for GE Capital, Americas, GE's mid-market finance business in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. His responsibilities include: sales, marketing, pricing, and communications. In addition, he is responsible for Capital-America's New Product Development and Imagination Breakthroughs. Prior to this role, Cooper led GE Commercial Finance's Enterprise Group, where his team was responsible for the business' 2,500 most strategic customer relationships.
Between 2003-2005, he was president of GE's Canadian Equipment Financing business. Before that, he led GE's Commercial Equipment Finance's "At the Customer, for the Customer" program, where GE shares key learnings and practices with clients to help them solve their biggest business challenges. Cooper again has responsibility for this program across GE Capital.
Throughout the 90s, Cooper held sales management roles of increasing responsibility and scope. He has been with GE for 20 years and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Anders Wold, 52, has been named vice president of GE Healthcare - Ultrasound, a business within GE Technology Infrastructure.
Wold, a 12-year veteran of GE, joined GE Healthcare as part of the Diasonics Vingmed acquisition in 1998. During his tenure with Vingmed, Wold developed a deep domain expertise in ultrasound with roles in product management, marketing and sales. From 1994-1998, Wold moved to Singapore to lead the creation of an ultrasound distributorship, building an ultrasound presence in Asia.
Wold returned to Europe to lead the cardiac ultrasound business for GE Healthcare post acquisition, building a world-class cardiology ultrasound business at GE. Under Wold's leadership, the $75 million acquisition in 1998 continually delivered global growth, resulting in a $400 million business in 2008. Market share also grew from 18% to 38%, making it a global leader in ultrasound cardiology.
In 2009, Wold was promoted to lead the overall $1.8 billion ultrasound business for GE Healthcare. In this role, he has been instrumental in the development of a series of advanced ultrasound technologies including the latest healthymagination product -- Vscan, the powerful pocket-sized mobile ultrasound technology.
Wold earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Management in Norway and a bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Salford in the UK.
