October 09, 2017

BOSTON - October 9, 2017 - GE (NYSE: GE) announced today that Robert W. Lane is retiring from the GE Board of Directors for health reasons, effective October 9, 2017.

Lane, the former Chairman and CEO of Deere & Company, joined the GE Board of Directors in June 2005.  He served as a member of the Audit Committee from July 2005 to December 2016 and began serving on the Management Development and Compensation Committee in April 2009.  In recognition of his 12 years of service to GE, the Board has named Lane a Director Emeritus.

Jack Brennan, lead independent director for GE’s Board of Directors, said, “Bob’s contributions to GE have been significant and meaningful. His extensive knowledge of manufacturing and international markets have helped guide our growing industrial businesses, and our expanding global footprint. We relied on Bob’s deep financial expertise throughout the financial crisis, and have valued his leadership and insights in shaping and building GE’s leadership team.  I am thankful for Bob’s service to GE and wish Bob and his family all the best following his retirement.”

John Flannery, Chair and CEO of GE, said, “For more than a decade, Bob has played an instrumental role on our Board of Directors, and has helped guide our transformation into the digital industrial company we are today.  Bob's view of the global economy and experience building one of America's great industrial brands has made him an incredibly valuable advisor to GE.
