University of Debrecen and the Hungarian subsidiary of digital industrial company GE signs joint research and training development - cooperation agreement

The University of Debrecen and GE Hungary Kft. are going to cooperate in research and development programmes in the fields of digital medicine, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and sports medicine.

The letter of intent about the cooperation was signed on 29 June 2017 by the leaders of the digital industrial company and the higher education institution. The cooperation is in line with the priority focus area of the University of Debrecen, i.e. the institutional objectives formulated in relation to the health industry, as well as with the strategy concerning the renewal of technical instruction at the University of Debrecen. As a strategic partner of the University, the company is also going to take part in the work of the body that coordinates the renewal of technical instruction in Debrecen (Technical and IT Office).

In the field of digital health innovation, they will commence the joint activity relying upon the nationally outstanding clinical expertise and specialists of the University of Debrecen and GE’s IT and data processing practice in health. The agreement to be concluded with the global leader digital industrial enterprise will pay special attention to state-of-the-art therapeutic technologies. The objective of the cooperation is to elaborate a joint strategy with regard to new technical and IT solutions and the directions of development of digital medicine in Hungary, focusing particularly on the fields of artificial intelligence and virtual/extended reality as well as sports medicine.
