Press Release

To succeed, you must fail a hundred times

May 19, 2016

May 2016 - In cities all around the world, local businessmen gather to discuss the fiascos and missteps that have punctuated their careers. At FUN, a global event series born in Mexico in 2012, they are given the chance to share publicly their stories of business failure. FUN, you see, celebrates defeat.

We’ve all heard great stories of successful businessmen, but what´s behind each story is often unobserved. The stories reach us in their final versions, but there have often been many mistakes along the way. Mistakes shouldn’t signify the end of something; they should be part of the learning process. Turn your mistakes into lessons for others - that is exactly what FUN is here to do.

Hundreds of people attend each event to hear three or four local entrepreneurs share their failures. Each speaker is given seven minutes and is able to use up to 10 images. After each speaker, there’s a lively Q&A session and the evening then ends with networking and an after-party.

The popular format takes place each month in over 130 cities around the world. It is full of humor and features an informal atmosphere; breaking myths about success, and showing how failure is not only quite natural, it’s actually a beneficial part of our lives. Prague and Budapest are among the cities where FUN take place.

Tomas Studenik from Confidence Digital has brought the event to Prague, and on May 24, we’ll see FUN Prague Vol. VIII, featuring Peter Stracar, GE’s CEO for CEE, as one of the four speakers talking about their failures. May 24th marks the official kick-off of the cooperation of GE in CEE with FUN movement, reflecting the digital transformation of the industry and CEE in the core of that digitalization. The same event will be held in Budapest on June 2, and it will be the first FUN in Hungary. Joerg Bauer, President of GE in Hungary, will be present to share his story with the audience. Stay tuned here at GE Reports CEE  - Peter and Joerg’s stories are coming soon…
